Philadelphia Hosts Inaugural New Year's Eve Concert
Philadelphia is set to host its first-ever New Year's Eve concert on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, featuring renowned artist LL Cool J. This event marks a significant addition to the city's celebrations, especially following LL Cool J's previous boycott of a July 4 performance due to a city workers strike. The concert will also showcase performances by DJ Jazzy Jeff, Adam Blackstone, Dorothy, and Technician the DJ.
Organized by Scott Mirkin, the four-hour event is expected to attract around 20,000 attendees and will include a fireworks display at midnight. City officials emphasize their commitment to safety, with comprehensive security measures in place, including police and fire department presence and metal detectors at entry points. Philadelphia Fire Chief Brandon Wilson assures that the team is well-prepared for any situation.
Gates will open at 6 p.m., with the concert commencing at 8 p.m. Attendees can enjoy food and drink vendors on-site as they ring in the new year.
